Diljit Dosanjh Replies To The Trolls Claiming That He Disrespected The National Flag At The Coachella Event

Diljit Dosanjh made the headlines with his electrifying and historic performances at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. His gig caught the wrong attention when people started slamming him for disrespecting the Indian flag.

During the second performance at the Coachella event, Diljit pointed at a young lady with the Indian flag in her hand and said, “Eh mere Punjabi bhen bhraawan lay, mere desh da jhanda like khadi aa kudi, eh mere desh lay, negativity ton bacho, music saareyan da saanjha (This is for my Punjabi brothers and sisters, this girl is holding my country’s flag. Stay away from negativity. Music is for everyone).”

Soon after, his remark was slashed up and introduced as a message against the nation and the flag, and the video started spreading like wildfire.

Diljit took his Twitter account to stop all these allegations and shared a statement in which he wrote, “DON’T SPREAD FAKE NEWS and NEGATIVITY. Mai Kiha Eh Mere Desh Da Jhanda Hai. Eh, Mere Desh Lai. Means MERI Eh Performance Mere desh Lai. Je Punjabi Nhi Aundi Tan Google Kar Leya Karo Yaar. Kion ke Coachella Ek Big Musical Festival Aa Othey Har desh to log aunde ne.. that’s why Music Sab Da Sanjha Hai. SAHI GAL NU PUTHI KIVE GHUMAUNA KOI TUADEY WARGEYA TON SIKHEY ENU V GOOGLE KAR LEYO (I said this is my country’s flag, this is for my country, which means this performance is for my country. If you don’t know Punjabi, then Google it. Because Coachella is a big music festival, people from all over the world come there, and that’s why music is for everyone. Someone should learn how to twist a good thing from you. Google this too).”

During this, fans showed their immense support for him. One fan commented, “Keep shining. Lalli chili di pariah ni karidi (don’t worry about the haters),”. Another said, “Proud of You. Keep Rocking and Making India Proud. We all love you. Bash on Regardless. Jai Hind,” While one of them commented, “Khich ke rakho kamm. Auna nu dihadi mildi hai is trolling de kamm di. Give employment.”

Moreover, the Politician Manjinder Singh Sirsa also supported Diljit by tweeting. “It would be better if @pun_fact starts posting the complete video. @diljitdosanjh dedicated this concert to India and Punjab. He said, ‘eh mere Punjabi brain bhraawan lay, mere desh da jhanda like khadi aa kudi, eh mere desh lay, negativity ton bacho, music saareyan da saanjha.’ It’s shameful that some handles are creating a negative agenda and spreading hatred.”

On the work front, we will soon see Diljit Dosanjh and Nimrat Khaira together in their upcoming movie, Jodi, which will hit the big screens on 5th May 2023.
