Rumours have been swirling that Diljit Dosanjh was dropped from the upcoming film Border 2, especially after the controversy around his movie Sardaar Ji 3 and the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
Things took a turn after the trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 was released on June 22, revealing Hania’s involvement. Since then, Diljit has faced heavy criticism online, particularly because he didn’t hold back the film’s overseas release after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.
But just a short while ago, Diljit shut down all the speculation by posting a behind-the-scenes video from the sets of Border 2. In the clip, he’s seen in full costume, filming a scene with a lively group of dancers behind him. The powerful title track from the original Border, “Ke Ghar Kab Aoge,” can be heard playing in the background.
This move seems to put an end to the buzz about him being removed from the cast. Border 2 also stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.
Recently, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) wrote a letter to Sunny Deol, asking him to step away from the project because of Diljit’s involvement.
“Your decision to disassociate from this collaboration will reaffirm your enduring image as a true patriot and will send a strong message that national interest will always come before individual pursuits,” the letter said.
However, a source close to the film’s production confirmed to NDTV that Diljit is still part of the film.
“The news about his replacement is not true. His casting was done 9 months ago. And we have already finished 50% shoot,” said the source.
Border 2, the sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 war classic, is currently in its third schedule of shooting in Pune.
