It was Diljit Dosanjh starrer ‘Good Newwz’ movie when we saw an incident where two women get their IVFs mixed-up because of the fertility clinic’s unwanted mistake. Kiara Advani & Kareena Kapoor Khan got pregnant with each other’s babies in the film released in 2019. It was already mind boggling enough to watch it in the movie, but it’s almost unbelievable to know that the same incident took place in real life too.
A couple from Southern California, Daphna and Alexander Cardinale (Singer) were customers to the California Center for Reproductive Health (CCRH) and Dr. Eliran Mor in 2019. The fertility clinic implanted the wrong embryos into two women during the IVF (In vitro fertilization) procedures which resulted in the mix-up for the two families and even unknowingly gave birth to the children, both girls. Both the families raised the children for several months that aren’t theirs.
Daphna and Alexander were already parents to their first child and wanted another child but did not succeed. After trying for several times they ended up with the decision to go for an IVF procedure. It even went successful and the former got pregnant but to the twist to the plot she was pregnant with another woman’s infant. Both the women got pregnant with each other’s babies in their womb, even gave birth and raised them for several months.
Daphna and her husband were already happy because of the second child but steadily they noticed that the child is dark in colour, with black hair and looked to be a different race. Instead of their older daughter the newborn was much darker. This was where they suspected something wrong and went for a DNA test. To their surprise, the DNA test proved that they are not the real parents to the child.
The couple then filed a lawsuit against the fertility clinic for the life-changing happening they faced just because of the little mistake done by the clinic. The lawsuit called for a jury trial and seeks other damages to the families.
In ‘Good Newwz’ we saw a happy ending where both the families agreed to raise the babies without getting bothered of who they are meant to be born from, this real life incident is totally opposite and the couple now want their real child to be with them.
