Though Kshmr was born in California, his father hails from the beautiful city of Kashmir, India. His mother is an American who married Kshmr’s Kashmiri Hindi father when he emigrated from Kashmir to America.

Neil Hollowell-Dhar also earned his stage name Kshmr from his father’s birthplace ‘Kashmir’. He has also released two singles named ‘Jammu’ and ‘Kashmir’ which derive their name from the Indian state.

Kshmr first came into world recognition when he broke into Djmag’s Top 100 DJs list in 2015 by grabbing the highest spot for a new entry, 23rd. He then climbed up the charts to grab 12th spot in 2016 and 2017 and now he’s grabbed the same spot again.

In 2017, he also launched Dharma Worldwide, a sub-label of Spinnin’ Records, parented by Warner Music Group. He’s also worked with Tiësto, the Godfather of EDM, who is often described as the greatest DJ of all time and has grabbed the No.1 spot on various occasions in the Djmag’s list.

This year’s list was topped by David Guetta, who achieved the spot for the second time in his career. Kshmr grabbed his peak position, 12th, again after 2016 and 2017.
