Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu has become the limelight of news and social media after she bagged the prestigious Miss Universe award. Through Harnaaz, India has won this award after a long gap of 21 years.
But apart from modeling, she is passionate about acting too. Not many know that Harnaaz has a keen interest in acting, and now, she has worked in the Punjabi industry with The Kapil Sharma Show fame Upasana Singh.
The actress, who is going to launch her son Nanak, revealed that she has cast Harnaaz as the lead in this film. In an exclusive chat with Aaj Tak, the actress opened up about her bond with Harnaaz Sandhu.

Upasana said she was living with me before leaving for Israel. She once cooked rajma chawal for me. During this period, Harnaaz often said – with confidence – that she would win the Miss Universe crown. And now, she has proven her point. “I am very happy that the one who brought laurels to our country is a part of my film,” added Upasana.

Upasana’s first film as a producer in the Punjabi film industry will be released soon. ‘Bai Ji Kuttange’ will mark the debut of her son Nanak. She said adding, “I reached Chandigarh in search of the lead actress. That’s where I saw Harnaaz during the auditions. She had come with her mother. We wanted a new girl and I found Harnaaz very sweet at first sight. Since she was completely new, I trained both her and my son in acting. I did not even imagine that the girl I selected at that time will be so successful today. I am feeling proud in my own selection.”
Upasana further said Harnaaz called her after winning the crown and shouted that she fulfilled her promise. Upasana added, she could feel her happiness on the phone. In fact, she got really emotional talking to Harnaaz and couldn’t stop crying. It felt as if her child had done something. The actress added, “Whenever Harnaaz comes to Mumbai, she stays with me. When her training started after Miss India, we housed her for five days. She was saying that as soon as she comes to Mumbai (from Israel), she will come to my house first.”

She also praised Harnaaz, saying that the girl is very hardworking and dedicated. Upasana has also cast her as the lead in her second film ‘Yaara Diyan Poo Barah’. One of the dialogues of this film is Chak De Phatte and after she won Miss Universe 2021, she repeated this dialogue on the phone which made Upasana very emotional.
