In a chilling case of abuse of power, RBL Bank employee Dolly Kotak has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly framing her ex-partner in a false rape case and demanding a ₹1 crore bribe to withdraw it. The arrest, made by Charkop Police, followed a detailed investigation after the man filed a counter-complaint. The shocking allegations have triggered public outrage and raised serious concerns over misuse of legal provisions in personal disputes. The incident marks a disturbing turn in the Dolly Kotak extortion case.
According to the FIR, Kotak—along with two others including her brother Sagar Kotak and HDFC Bank staffer Pramila Vas—allegedly accessed the complainant’s personal banking and Google account data without consent. She reportedly replaced his mobile number with hers to monitor his digital activity, track locations, and send threatening messages like “you’ll never win… die in pain.” These actions, the complaint says, not only led to his wrongful imprisonment but also cost him his job. Investigators confirmed that Kotak demanded ₹1 crore in exchange for a “No Objection” statement that would enable him to secure bail in the fabricated rape case. The Dolly Kotak extortion case also saw a court-ordered FIR registered against six individuals under multiple sections.
The arrest has sparked significant online debate about gender-biased legal misuse. Activist Deepika Bhardwaj highlighted the case, calling for better safeguards against false accusations. The accused’s brother, Sagar Kotak, is reportedly out on bail in an unrelated POCSO case, adding another controversial layer to the investigation. With legal proceedings underway, the nation watches closely as the truth unfolds in the Dolly Kotak extortion case.
