Drake’s Certified Lover Boy Did Not Break His All-Time Streaming Record, Missed The Mark By 3 Million

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy Did Not Break His All-Time Streaming Record, Missed The Mark By 3 Million

Drake, one of the most influential artists of the modern times, recently released his most awaited album, Certified Lover Boy. The album was so hyped up and it was speculated to turn out to be the biggest music album of the year. When the album was finally unveiled by Drake, the audience couldn’t stop streaming it.

It was reported that the album had broken the record of the most streamed album in the first week of its release in the history of the US. The original numbers were reported to be somewhere around 740 million streams. Now, it has been confirmed that the news was false.

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy Becomes The Most Streamed Album On Spotify In A Single Day

Drake did not actually break the all-time record for the most streams in the first week of US history. The album stream figures were confirmed to be 743.67 million. This is the second biggest debut in the history of the US but was not enough to break the all-time record. Certified Lover Boy missed the mark by about 3 million streams.

The good thing about this is that the all-time record is still held by Drake, just not through Certified Lover Boy. Drake’s 2018 album, Scorpion, holds the record for the most streams in the first week in US history, with 745.92 million streams. The album had earned Drake many nominations like The Grammy Nomination for the Album Of The Year and God’s Plan had even won the Grammy Award for the Best Rap Song.

Scorpion still holds that record created in 2018. Certified Lover Boy is the closest any album has ever come to breaking the record but it only came close enough to be called the ‘second’. Drake’s competition is him! This makes Drake hold the first and the second spot for the biggest debut in US history. It’s yet to see what more records will be made by the Certified ‘Record Breaker’ album.
