In the realm of Pandora, Avatar: The Way of Water came up with a large number of new characters in addition to the current ones. Avatar: The Way of Water boasts a cast that is equally as talented as its predecessor, from Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) to Jake Sully (Sam Worthington and Neytiri Zoe Saldaa).

However, when a specific character from the 2009 original appeared in Avatar, people were surprised with its look and personality, which was similar to Vin Diesel! Now the question arises, is Vin Diesel in Avatar: The Way of Water? Is the Fast & Furious fame Vin Diesel a part of Avatar: The Way of Water? Here’s what we came to know!
The answer to the above question is a NO. Vin Diesel wasn’t a part of Avatar: The Way of Water. Notably, Corporal Lyle Wainfleet, a character from the first film, is the one in question. Actor Matt Gerald, who looks remarkably similar to Vin Diesel, is reprising his role as Wainfleet, who is a member of the RDA security squad and aids Quaritch in their conflict with the Na’vi in James Cameron’s original Avatar.

However, not just similar appearance of Matt Gerald and Vin Diesel confused the people about Diesel’s role in Avatar: The Way of Water, but since James Cameron and Diesel have been hinting at the former’s involvement in an Avatar sequel for some time, many were sure that Diesel would appear in Avatar: The Way of Water!
Though the fact that the second and third parts were shot back-to-back, makes it almost certain that Vin Diesel may be seen in the upcoming sequel, Avatar 3, despite his absence from the first follow-up. Notably, James Cameron and Diesel appeared in a video in 2019, where the director purposely makes it unclear which Avatar sequel was being worked on at the time. Moreover, he stated that they are both on the set of Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5.
However, given that Avatar 4 is only half shot and Avatar 3 is almost finished, it is likely that Diesel will appear in the third one after missing out on Avatar: The Way of Water and being mistaken for Matt Gerald there. Furthermore, it’s something exciting for Avatar fans as well as the followers of Vin Diesel!
