There’s been a ruse created all over social media where an old tweet is surfacing about the death of Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean. Fans panicked but actually this fake news is basically a part of an old hoax that had astonished people a few years ago as well. In 2017, a fake Twitter account, set up to look like Fox News’ handle, had claimed that Atkinson had died in a car crash.

Needless to say, the death hoax caused anguish among Atkinson’s fans who expressed their displeasure over the fake rumours on social media. One user wrote, along with a frowning face emoji, “Why does Rowan Atkinson die every year?” Another one said, “Rowan Atkinson is NOT dead, the rumours are absolutely false… It’s a hoax.

Rowan Atkinson is actually 66, and very much alive. Rowan Atkinson also fell prey to a death hoax in 2016, after a Facebook page titled ‘R.I.P. Rowan Atkinson’ claimed that the actor was found unconscious at his home in San Francisco.

According to the reports of Republic World, ‘several tweets containing a link may ask the user to click on it, and he/she is redirected to a page where they are prompted to dial a phone number. When the call is connected, he/she is asked to share credit card details to buy a so-called software. Once it is done, the users are duped of money.’

Meanwhile, this is not the first time when Rowan became a victim of fake news, declaring him dead. In the past, the news of his death took over the internet, shocking his fans and followers across the world. The recent rumours seem to be a part of an old hoax that shook people.
