Farid Varsity VC Resigns After Health Minister Asks Him To Lay On Dirty Bed

After getting repeated complaints, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, the health minister of Punjab, visited Guru Gobind Singh Medical hospital in Faridkot on Friday to witness the arrangements and facilities. While examining the condition of patient beds, he found that the mattresses were old, dirty and in bad condition, after which, he forced the Vice-chancellor of the institute to lay down on the dirty bed.

As quoted in a tweet by news agency ANI, along with the video:

“#WATCH | Faridkot: Punjab Health Min Chetan Singh Jouramajra visited Guru Gobind Singh Medical hospital & took stock of infrastructure & arrangements. He also inspected mattresses being used for patients & made Vice-Chancellor lie down on the same upon seeing their poor condition”

In the shared video, health minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra is seen dissatisfied and angry over the poor condition of the patient beds, telling the Vice-chancellor Dr. Raj Bahadur to himself lay down on the same dirty mattress. In the video, he is seen shouting on the VC, asking, “When everything is in your hands, then what is this?”

This was after some patients complained about the dirty and poor condition beds. In the video, it can be seen that VC Dr. Raj Bahadur laid down on a dirty patient bed after health minister yelled at him. However, as soon as the video went viral, the opposition started lashing out at the health minister over his “humiliating” behaviour towards VC Dr. Raj Bahadur.

Gidderbaha MLA and PPCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, in a tweet, condemned the incidence, demanding an apology from the health minister for his behaviour. A tweet by Raja Warring reads:

“Punjab Health Minister @jouramajra’s humiliating behaviour with Dr Raj Bahadur is highly condemnable. Minister must apologise”

Though now, as per the news, Dr. Raj Bahadur has resigned from the post of Vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, after being humiliated by the health minister of Punjab. Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, on the VC’s resignation, tweeted:

“I believe Dr Raj Bahadur has resigned as Vc unable to bear gross humiliation by the illiterate Health Minister! If @BhagwantMann has an iota of decency he should immediately dismiss Mr Jauramajra from his cabinet and ask him to tender an unconditional apology to Dr Raj Bahadur.”

This entire incidence has created a new controversy, resulting in a political battle between the opposition and the government in Punjab, where the opposition is now demanding the health minister to apologise.
