COVID 19 has affected the world in many ways. Not only the world had a lockdown due to this, but also many businesses were also affected adversely. Talking about India, and Indian cinema, it is experiencing a complete disconnection with theatres. Here, release date and shooting of many films were put on hold, and many planned to head towards an online release on OTT Platforms like Amazon Prime, DisneyPlusHotstar, Zee5, and Netflix.
It still can not be said that if the films will work well on OTT Platforms and help the filmmakers to earn good profits, hence many filmmakers were still in dilemma and didn’t choose OTT over the theatrical release of their films. And now, the updates are about two films which are officially announced to release in theatres.
One is the much talked Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh and Jackie Shroff. This action film, directed by action king Rohit Shetty, will be released in theatres on Diwali this year i.e. November 14th, 2020.
And, another one is 83 starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Salim, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani and more. This film will hit the theatres on Christmas this year. The film is directed by Kabir Bedi, which is based on the life of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev and the time when India won the coveted World Cup in 1983.
