India’s Got Latent: FIR Filed Against Samay Raina’s Show Over Arunachal Contestant’s Controversial Remarks On Dogs

Standup comedian and host of popular reality comedy show ‘India’s Got Latent’ Samay Raina has got into legal troubles. An FIR has been registered against his show. A contestant from Arunachal Pradesh made a controversial comment on the show, after which the show is on the radar.

Jessie Nabam, a resident of Arunachal Pradesh, gave an opinion about the people of the state in the ‘Members-Only’ episode of the show, after which Samay commented on it.

During the episode, Jessie Nabam was giving her opinion about the people of her state. On this, Samay Raina asked her if she has ever eaten dog meat? To this, Jessie said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh eat dog meat, but she has never tasted it. Jessie said, ‘I know about it, because my friends eat it. They sometimes even eat their pets.’

While Samay Raina was shocked by this statement of the contestant, his fellow host Balraj Singh Ghai interrupted and said that it seems that Jesse is saying this just for the sake of saying. But Jesse Nabam again insisted that it is true.

In this ‘Member Only’ episode, along with Samay Raina and Balraj, the panel of judges also included comedians Akash Gupta and Mallika Dua. Now, an FIR has been lodged with the police against the contestant and the show ‘India’s Got Latent’ in this matter.

This FIR, dated January 31, 2025 last month, is addressed to the officer in charge of Itanagar police station. The case has been registered by Arman Ram Veli Bakha, a resident of Seppa in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. In his complaint, he has accused Jesse Nabam and the show of allegedly making derogatory remarks about the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.
