India Maldive Row: FWICE Asks Film Makers To Boycott Maldives In A Press Release

There is a diplomatic tension gping on between Maldives and India after the statement given by a Maldivian minister on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This controversy started after Maldivian Minister Mariyam Shiuna made objectionable comments on the pictures shared by PM Modi after his visit to Lakshadweep. Then two other ministers commented against PM Modi.

Amidst this growing controversy, Federation of Western India Cine Employees i.e. FWICE has appealed to all filmmakers and producers to boycott Maldives.

Will films no longer be shot in Maldives, one of the favorite locations of Bollywood celebs and film makers? This question has been running in people’s minds for the last several days.

Now Federation of Western India Cine Employees i.e. FWICE has also issued a press release appealing to the makers not to shoot in Maldives. Along with this they have also given an advice.

FWICE issued a press release in which they wrote that  FWICE has decided to boycott Maldives in protest against the derogatory remarks made by Maldivian leaders regarding globally respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Describing the derogatory statements made by three ministers of Maldives, it is written in the press release, “In view of the growing row between India and Maldives over the derogatory statement issued by three ministers of Maldives, the FWICE which is the oldest and largest Federal body of the workers, technicians and artists working in the media and entertainment industry, strongly condemns the most irresponsible and ridiculous remarks of the ministers of Maldives passed on globally respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. In solidarity with the nation and its wide culture, the members of the FWICE have decided to boycott Maldives for their shooting locations. Instead, the FWICE appeals its members to choose similar locations in India for their shooting purpose and contribute towards developing the tourism in India.”

While presenting its stand on behalf of the Muizzu government, it was written on social media that whatever comments have been made on India are not by the Maldives government. After this, news also came that the Muizzu government has suspended the three leaders including Maryiam.
