Gangster Bishnoi’s Plea On ‘Fake Encounter’ Rejected, 5 Detained In Moose Wala Case

A day after the state govt curtailed the security of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, he was shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Mansa district of Punjab. As of now, 5 people have been detained in connection with the entire brutal incident. The Punjab Police on Monday, detained five people in Dehradun in connection with the case, as per the officials.

As a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits, the police are also investigating role of some people who could be seen in a CCTV footage procured from a ‘dhaba’ in Mansa where they were having meal on Sunday, said police sources. As per the media reports, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his aides, and Kala Jathedi and Kala Rana are being questioned by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with Moose Wala’s murder. The singer’s death might also have links to gangster Goldy Brar, a close aide of Bishnoi. According to the report of the Times of India, one person was recently arrested and sent to Delhi’s Tihar Jail as he was found using a messaging app to communicate with Goldy Brar.

On the other hand, on Monday, a plea filed by Bishnoi before the Patiala House Court over “apprehension of fake encounter by Punjab Police” was rejected. Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in the national capital, approached Patiala House Court with a plea stating that he apprehended a ‘fake encounter’ and ‘compromised trial’. Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana High court has asked the Bhagwant Mann government that why names of those whose security was curtailed, were leaked, asking the government to reply by June 2.

Renowned Punjabi singer Moose Wala, who was just 28, died in a fatal shooting when he was out in his jeep with two other men near his native village of Jawaharke in Mansa district on Sunday evening. Eight of around 30 bullets fired by the gunmen hit the Punjabi rapper, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, and who had released his latest track, “The Last Ride”, earlier this month. He had fought on the Congress ticket from Mansa assembly seat in the recent assembly election and was defeated by AAP’s Vijay Singla, the one who was recently dismissed from the Mann cabinet over corruption charges. Since after the Moose Wala’s murder, the opposition has been lashing out at Mann government over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.
