A group of Indian tourists has stirred controversy online after a viral video showed them performing Garba to the song Chogada atop the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The video, shared by Dubai-based content creator @the_walking_lens_, features a group dressed in matching yellow T-shirts—suggesting they were part of a guided tour, forming a circle and dancing on the observation deck.
“A viral video shows tourists dancing to the Chogada song on top of the iconic Burj Khalifa,” the caption read. While some netizens found it amusing, the majority slammed the act, citing concerns about decorum and cultural sensitivity in public spaces abroad.
“Stop embarrassing the rest of us,” commented one user, while another wrote, “We must learn to respect the sanctity of public places.” A self-identified Gujarati added, “This is embarrassing… Even Gujjus in India don’t break into garba just anywhere.”
This is the latest in a string of viral incidents involving Indian tourists. Previously, 43 Gujarati and Marwadi visitors danced Garba in the middle of a European street after requesting local musicians to play Indian music.
Other controversial moments include an Indian-origin woman eating biryani with her hands on the London subway and an Indian family being called out for being too loud on a Finland train last year.
These episodes have reignited online debate about the global image of Indian tourists and the importance of civic etiquette while traveling.
