Gonda Sweet Shop Introduces 24-Carat Gold Gujiya for Rs 50,000 per Kg

A sweets shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda has introduced a luxurious treat this Holi—the ‘Golden Gujiya.’ Priced at ₹50,000 per kg and ₹1,300 per piece, this extravagant dessert has left many astonished.

Shop manager Shivakant Chaturvedi shared that the gujiya features a delicate 24-carat gold layer and a premium dry fruit filling, making it truly special. “Our ‘Golden Gujiya’ has a layering of 24-carat gold. The stuffing has special dry fruits. 24-carat gold and silver are also eaten. This ‘gujiya’ costs Rs 50,000 per kg and Rs 1300 per piece,” he said.

Unlike traditional gujiyas, which are filled with khoya, nuts, and dried fruits, this version stands out due to its edible gold leaf coating, giving it an opulent golden sheen. Meanwhile, in Lucknow, another sweets shop achieved a milestone by creating India’s largest gujiya, measuring 25 inches and weighing 6 kg.

Pramil Dwivedi, an official from the India Book of Records, confirmed the feat. “…This gujiya breaks all the records. When the owner claims so, we searched and found that such gujiya was never prepared earlier…” he told ANI.

With Holi festivities in full swing, markets are bustling with people shopping for colors, pichkaris, and festive treats. Homes are adorned with decorations, and kitchens are busy preparing traditional sweets, adding to the excitement of the festival of colors.
