The central government has banned 25 OTT apps and websites for allegedly streaming obscene, vulgar, and pornographic content. The list includes well-known platforms like ULLU, ALTBalaji (now ALTT), Desiflix, Big Shots App, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, and Gulab App. As per officials familiar with the matter, many of these platforms were found hosting shows with frequent sexual innuendos, prolonged scenes of nudity, and acts that were clearly sexual in nature. Authorities stated that a lot of this content lacked any kind of meaningful storyline, moral theme, or social message. Instead, the focus seemed to be only on visuals designed to shock or attract through adult content. The decision to ban came after repeated violations of content guidelines and Indian IT laws.
