The Indian government on Saturday firmly denied several false claims circulating on social media, warning that such misinformation is being spread to incite communal unrest and cause unnecessary panic among citizens.
One viral video claimed that India had carried out a drone strike on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit addressed the video, stating, “A video shared on social media is claiming that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankhana Sahib gurdwara. This claim is completely fake.” Officials noted that such false content was being deliberately shared to foster communal hatred within India.

Nankana Sahib, located in Pakistan, is a highly revered shrine for Sikhs as it marks the birthplace of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
Additionally, the government dismissed rumors alleging a Pakistani cyberattack that had supposedly disrupted India’s power grid, as well as reports claiming a temporary suspension of the Mumbai-Delhi airline route. “These claims are fake,” the government stated.
The Airports Authority of India clarified that the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions was implemented due to operational reasons, not due to any external threat or cyberattack.
