xAI has officially launched a new memory feature for its Grok AI chatbot, enhancing user experience by enabling the bot to remember specific details from past conversations. This update, similar to tools already offered by ChatGPT and Gemini, aims to provide more personalized and fluid interactions by tailoring responses based on previous user inputs.
According to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Grok can now store contextual information and use it to improve recommendations and advice. This new feature is being made available to all users—both free and paid—on the Grok website and mobile apps for Android and iOS.

For example, if a user requests a workout plan, Grok will consider their previously stated exercise preferences to deliver more relevant suggestions.
To maintain transparency, xAI is also introducing tools that show users what information is being stored and how it is used. When Grok pulls from prior chats to craft a response, a “Referenced Chats” icon will appear at the bottom of the message. Tapping on it reveals a sidebar listing the specific memories used. Users can delete these memories directly from the sidebar, although this function is currently limited to the web platform.
Users can also manage memory settings by heading to the Data Controls section under Settings, where they can either disable the feature entirely or delete individual entries. Again, these controls are only accessible via the website at present.
It’s worth noting that while the memory feature is rolling out worldwide, it won’t be available in the European Union or the United Kingdom due to local privacy laws.
