Gujarat Deploys All-Women Police Team for PM Modi’s Security on Women’s Day

In a groundbreaking initiative, Gujarat is set to make history by deploying an all-women police security detail for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event in Navsari district on March 8, marking International Women’s Day.

State Minister for Home Harsh Sanghavi announced on Thursday that this would be the first time in India that only women police officers, from constables to senior IPS officers, will oversee the prime minister’s security arrangements.

“The Gujarat police is taking a unique initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day. For the first time in the history of India, only women police will handle the entire security arrangement of the PM’s event – right from his arrival at the helipad at Vansi Borsi village in Navsari till the event venue,” Sanghavi stated.

The security team will comprise over 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 police inspectors, 16 deputy superintendents of police, five superintendents of police (SPs), along with an Inspector General of Police and an Additional Director General of Police (ADGP). Senior IPS officer and Home Secretary Nipuna Torawane will be leading the security operations.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled for a two-day visit to Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, during which he will address the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ at Vansi Borsi village.

Sanghavi emphasized that this initiative not only marks a significant step towards empowering women in law enforcement but also serves as a strong global message about Gujarat’s commitment to ensuring safety and security through women-led leadership.
