Isudan Gadhvi, the CM candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party, belongs to the OBC category which has a significant vote base and influence in Gujarat. He is also the joint general secretary of the party. Furthermore, Isudan Gadhvi thanked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Gujarat for giving him such a big responsibility.

Who is Isudan Gadhvi? Let’s have a look at his journey:

Isudan Gadhvi, 40, hails from Pipaliya village near Jamkhambhaliya in Devbhoomi Dwarka district of Gujarat. Belonging to a farming background, Gadhvi is popular amongst the farming community in Gujarat. Notably, Kherajbhai Gadhvi, his father, is also a farmer by profession. However, Isudan was a journalist by profession, before joining the Aam Aadmi Party in 2021. He had even worked with Doordarshan.

Furthermore, later in his journalism career, he revealed a deforestation scam worth ₹150 crore in Gujarat’s Dang district, forcing the government to take action against the perpetrator and officials. Despite being a popular face as a journalist, Isudan’s acceptability amongst the farmers as well as the OBC community, is one of the biggest factors behind his nomination as party’s CM candidate.

The Aam Aadmi Party conducted an internal survey in Gujarat, where various names including Isudan Gadhvi were in the list. Moreover, as per the results of that survey, Isudan received the maximum number of votes, resulting in the announcement of his name as the official CM candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat.

Moreover, now the three-cornered contest between the BJP, AAP and the Congress party, has taken an interesting turn. The assembly elections in Gujarat are more crucial now. The state of Gujarat is considered as the power-centre of the BJP as it is prime minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s home state. Now, with the declaration of its CM candidate in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party has once again stepped ahead of the Congress party in the assembly elections.
