Gully Boy Rapper MC Tod Fod Passed Away At Age 24

One of Mumbai’s finest rappers, Dharmesh Parmar aka MC Tod Fod who was a part of the city’s multilingual hip-hop group Swadesi passed away on 20 March. This 24-year-old rapper’s death was yet not revealed. It has been reported that the young rapper’s sudden death has sent shockwaves among the masses, especially followers of the Indian hip-hop genre.

For the unversed, Tod Fod was one of the several Indian hip-hop artists who were named to be a part of Zoya Akhtar’s film ‘Gully Boy’ released in 2019. Speaking of the film, it revolved around Ranveer Singh’s character Murad who rises from the slums of Dharavi to become one of the most popular rappers in the city and the country. Gully Boy actors Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi mourned the loss of life of Dharmesh Parmar aka rapper MC TodFod. 

Further, on a particular basis, MC Tod Fod had made headlines for his song ‘The Warli Revolt’ in 2019. With the song, he raised his voice against corrupt institutions to support environmental and human rights.

Moreover, the late rapper has also contributed a verse to the hard-hitting song ‘India 91’ in the film. Also, Tod Fod was additionally featured in the Vice India documentary Kya Bolta Bantai in 2018 which was once about the Gully Rap scene in Mumbai.

Recently, he, along with his group, had performed live on March 19 in Maharashtras’s Sandhan valley as a part of an art and music festival. His most recent single Truth & Bass was released on March 8.
