Punjabi Veteran Singer Gurdas Maan has been surrounded by controversies for his remarks on various occasions. After getting himself in trouble for hurting the sentiments of Punjabis by discrediting the mother tongue Punjabi, he was again seen in trouble for calling Sai Ghulam Shah Ji, popularly known as Sai Laddi Shah Ji, a descendant of the Third Sikh Guru Shri Guru Amardas Ji, from a stage while performing for the audience.
The statement was not well received by the Sikh Community and the community demanded an apology from Gurdas Maan for passing such hurtful remarks. Gurdas Maan has finally reacted to all the backlash and criticism he’s been receiving all this while for the statement.
Gurdas Maan came live through his Instagram handle and straightforwardly apologized for hurting the sentiments of all those who were offended by his statement. To clarify it, he said that Shri Guru Amar Das Ji was born in a ‘Bhalla’ family as his father’s name was Tej Bhan Bhalla and Sai Laddi Shah Ji was also born in a ‘Bhalla’ family, so he called him a descendant of the third master.
He also added that this does not mean that he was comparing Sai Laddi Shah Ji to the great Sikh Guru. Gurus are supreme, they are the governors of life and no one can ever be compared to their legacy. He only called Laddi Shah Ji, the Guru’s descendant because of the family line resemblance.
The Sikh community was very outraged by his remarks and reacted aggressively to it. It is to see if they accept Gurdas Maan’s apology this time. The community hasn’t fully forgiven the artist for his comments on the Punjabi language previous year and he’s put himself to a new trouble already.
