Following the tragic militant attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which left 26 tourists dead and several others injured, the Sikh community across Kashmir has come forward with a powerful gesture of compassion. Gurudwaras in Anantnag, Budgam, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Baramulla have opened their doors to tourists, offering food, shelter, and a sense of safety during these uncertain times.
The attack, which occurred at the scenic Baisaran meadow and was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), is considered one of the deadliest civilian-targeted incidents in the region in recent years.
Amid the tragedy, a touching message from the Sikh community has gone viral: “To all our beloved tourists, every Gurudwara across Kashmir stands with its doors open for you. Wherever you are, know that a nearby Gurudwara welcomes you with warmth, safety, and love. Please visit the one closest to you; you are not just guests here, you are family.”
This initiative, rooted in the Sikh principle of seva or selfless service, has been widely appreciated. It reflects not only the community’s generosity but also Kashmir’s enduring spirit of resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
