Galt police officer Harminder Grewal has died due to a Head-On-Crash with another vehicle. A dodge ram pickup truck driver was travelling southbound on Highway 99 and broke through the centre median concrete barrier, and slammed the Galt police vehicle.
The accident left severe injuries to two officers, including Harminder Grewal who died due to the same. The other injured officer, Kapri Herrera was in ICU, and is still hospitalised but expected to recover soon. The driver of the truck also lost his life in the crash.
Announcing this news of Harminder’s demise, police officer Michael Little said, “Harminder took pride in serving his community and his work ethic was contagious to all who worked with him. He would do anything in the world for anybody without hesitating. If I needed a ride to go somewhere, if he wasn’t working he would come pick me up. And this is an example of why he and officer Herrera were going to El Dorado County to help out a community that we don’t live in.”
Harminder was serving the Galt Police Department for two and half years. The police department is saddened with the loss of such a responsible officer. They also told the media that, ‘Officer Grewal made you feel like you knew him forever. People were just drawn to him. He drew people to him. That’s who he was.’
