There is no doubt that 2024 was a landmark year for Diljit Dosanjh. His films along with concerts also did wonders. ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ was loved by the people but at the same time he was also targeted by many people. Along with tremendous success, his name was also associated with controversies as during his Dil-Luminati concerts, he was told not to sing songs with alcohol. But now he has got the support of rapper Honey Singh and he has said a very funny thing on songs with alcohol.
Diljit Dosanjh followed the instructions by changing the lyrics of the song in concerts at many places but also said, ‘If all the states ban the consumption of alcohol, I will never sing a song about alcohol in my entire life.’ Interestingly, Diljit got advice and support from famous rapper Honey Singh. In a recent interview to India Today, Honey Singh spoke on the states that gave this advice and earned revenue by selling alcohol.
Honey Singh Slams Authorities
Honey Singh said, ‘They are not closing liquor shops. Let them make it a dry state and let India be a dry country. Then we can talk about all this.’ In fact, he also shared his solidarity with the campaign for an alcohol-free country. Though the statement may sound a little odd, especially when his songs mention alcohol, Honey Singh has quit drinking.
Honey Singh said, ‘We will definitely join this campaign. We will sing a song about lassi, about chaas, about jaljeera.’ Interestingly, when Honey was asked what he would do if he had to re-listen and change something for his songs, especially ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’, Honey said that the song would be based on just one tune.
The rapper also explained how references to alcohol have crept into everyday conversations and it is also a part of the culture in many places. He also said that when alcohol is present in parties of many cultures and communities, it cannot be called just a ‘Punjabi’ thing. He said- ‘We go to parties. People are drinking. We go to weddings. People are drinking. It is in the culture, not just in Punjab’.
