Husband K*lls Wife, Stuffs Body in Suitcase at Bengaluru Home, Flees to Pune

A tragic incident in Hulimavu, Bengaluru, has left the city in shock after the body of a 32-year-old woman, Gauri Anil Sambekar, was found stuffed inside a suitcase at her home. Her husband, Rakesh Sambekar, has been arrested in Pune for the alleged m*rder.

According to reports, Rakesh confessed to the crime over a phone call to Gauri’s parents. Acting on a tip-off from Maharashtra Police, local authorities in Bengaluru reached the residence and launched an investigation. Forensic experts and crime teams were brought in to examine the scene.

Senior police officer Sarah Fatima stated, “At around 5:30 pm, we received a call at the control room about a suspected hanging case. When the Hulimavu police reached the house, they found the door locked. After gaining entry, they found a suitcase in the bathroom.” Upon opening the suitcase, officers discovered the victim’s body with severe injury marks, though it was intact. “We will know the extent and nature of the injuries once we receive the postmortem report,” she added.

Initially, Rakesh’s whereabouts were unknown, but tracking his call records led authorities to Pune, where he was detained. A Bengaluru police team has traveled there to bring him back for further questioning.

The couple, originally from Maharashtra, had been married for two years and moved to Bengaluru just two months ago. Rakesh worked as a project manager in an IT firm, while Gauri was a housewife looking for a job. The motive behind the crime is still under investigation.
