In a swift and strategic response to rising regional tensions, India has successfully evacuated nearly 3,000 of its citizens from Iran and Israel. The large-scale evacuation operation comes in light of escalating hostilities and growing security concerns in the Middle East.
According to officials, 2,000 Indian nationals were brought back from Israel and approximately 1,000 from Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad.
The tensions surged after Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Israel, a retaliatory response to an earlier attack on its consulate in Syria. This rapidly evolving conflict raised alarms for foreign nationals in the region, prompting India to act quickly.
Evacuations were executed through coordinated efforts by Indian embassies in both countries, working closely with local authorities to arrange flights and ensure safe passage. The MEA reassured that it continues to monitor the situation closely and is prepared to act further if required.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar have been regularly briefed about the developments. Meanwhile, India has urged all parties to exercise restraint and pursue peace through dialogue.
