India has named several senior Pakistani Army officials who allegedly attended the funeral of terrorists killed during Operation Sindoor, a large-scale military strike launched on May 7 in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last month.
Under Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine identified terror locations across Pakistan. These included Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Markaz Taiba in Muridke, Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, and Hizbul Mujahideen’s Mehmoona Joya facility in Sialkot. According to Indian authorities, these locations served as crucial bases for terrorist planning and coordination.
Officials revealed that the funeral of those killed in the Muridke strike was led by Abdul Rauf, a senior LeT commander designated by the United States as a global terrorist.
Further raising concerns about Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism, India released a photograph that reportedly shows top Pakistani military and government officials at the funeral. Those present included Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Rao Imran Sartaj, and Brigadier Mohd Furqan Shabbir. The image also captured senior police officer Usman Anwar and politician Malik Sohaib Ahmed participating in the prayers. “The funeral was conducted with full state honours, with coffins of terrorists being draped in the Pakistani flag.”
Indian officials claimed that Operation Sindoor successfully neutralized more than 100 terrorists and released images of several high-value targets as evidence of the operation’s effectiveness. The revelations have further intensified diplomatic tensions and strengthened India’s position on the alleged nexus between the Pakistani establishment and terrorist organizations.
