India to Celebrate International Yoga Day in 191 Countries with Global Thematic Events

India is all set to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21 with large-scale events across the globe. To mark the 10th anniversary of this special day, yoga programmes and themed events will be held in 1,300 cities across 191 countries, showing the world India’s ancient practice and its growing global influence.

The Indian High Commission in Pakistan will also organise a yoga event in Islamabad, as announced by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), which works under the Ministry of External Affairs.

ICCR Director General K Nandini Singla shared that yoga events will take place almost everywhere—from the US to countries in Asia, Africa, and South America. Over 2,000 events are planned in total.

A major highlight this year is ‘Yoga Bandhan’, where 17 yoga gurus and practitioners from 15 different countries—including Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, and Malaysia—will lead Yoga Day events across India. In Delhi, these sessions will be held at historic landmarks like Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Purana Quila, and Humayun’s Tomb.

Similar events will take place at key locations in cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaipur, Bhopal, and many others, turning the International Day of Yoga into a global celebration of wellness, peace, and unity through yoga.
