On Tuesday, three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district after security forces launched a joint operation in the Keller forest area. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles began Operation Keller, targeting the Shoekal Keller region where terrorists were believed to be hiding.
“OPERATION KELLER. On 13 May 2025, based on specific intelligence of a #RashtriyasRifles Unit, about presence of terrorists in general area Shoekal Keller, #Shopian, #IndianArmy launched a search and destroy Operation. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in elimination of three hardcore terrorists. Operation is in progress,” the Indian Army said in a statement.
Sources suggest that two to three terrorists might still be present in the area. This operation is part of ongoing combing efforts in South Kashmir and Kishtwar following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and injured many others.
In a related development, reward posters were seen in various parts of Pulwama, offering ₹20 lakh for information on the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack. The Jammu and Kashmir Police had earlier released the names and sketches of three Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives believed to be responsible.
