India opener Shikhar Dhawan has isolated his ways from his wife Aesha Mukerji after almost 9 years of marriage. They are frequently praised as one of the most adorable couples in the cricketing league. Right from the start, Dhawan and Aesha appeared to be a match made in heaven. But after complimenting each other perfectly over the years, the couple has decided to chew the bitter pill of divorce.
Aesha broke the news on her new Instagram page named ‘Aesha Mukerji’ on Tuesday and her profile with the name ‘Aesha Dhawan’ was deleted from the social media site.
She confirmed about the divorce in a lengthy post, stating: “I THOUGHT DIVORCE WAS A DIRTY WORD UNTIL I BECAME A 2 TIME DIVORCEE.”
“Funny how words can have such powerful meanings and associations. I experienced this firsthand as a divorcee. The first time I went through a divorce I was soooooooo fu@kn scared. I felt like I had failed and I was doing something wrong at that time.”
“Well, once I went through the necessary actions and emotions of what had happened I was able to sit with myself and see that I was fine, I was actually doing great, even noticed my fear had totally disappeared. The remarkable thing is I actually felt much more empowered. I realised my fear and the meaning I gave to the word divorce was my own doing”, the Australia-based Aesha further wrote in her Insta post.
The power of the internet is too strong, and we can imagine it from the couple, as they found each other on the Internet. Dhawan once disclosed that he was scrolling through his Facebook feed and then he found Aesha’s pictures. It later turned out that Harbhajan Singh was a mutual friend between Shikhar and Aesha on Facebook. Their Facebook friendship turned into a fairytale love story and the rest is history.
Talking about their marriage, Shikhar and Aesha had got engaged way back in 2009, but Dhawan postponed the wedding by three years as he wanted to cement his place in the Indian team before taking the plunge. The left-handed opener eventually married Aesha on October 30, 2012.
Aesha is also a trained kickboxer and a sports fanatic. 46-year-old Aesha was married to an Australian businessman in the past.
