India’s S-400 Sudarshan: The Missile Shield That Foiled Pakistan’s Night Assault

In a decisive overnight operation, India’s air defence network, anchored by the Russian-made S-400 “Sudarshan” system, successfully intercepted and neutralised 15 missiles launched by Pakistan towards major northern and western cities, including Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Bhuj. This swift response followed India’s precision strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor.

The S-400, integrated into India’s Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), demonstrated its capability by engaging multiple aerial threats simultaneously. Each S-400 squadron comprises two batteries, each equipped with six launchers, a radar, and a control center, collectively managing 128 missiles. India has procured five such squadrons, with deployments strategically positioned along the Line of Control and other sensitive regions.

Following the interception, India deployed Israeli HARPY drones to target and disable Pakistani air defence radars, including installations in Lahore. This two-pronged approach not only thwarted the immediate threat but also compromised Pakistan’s ability to launch subsequent attacks.

The successful deployment of the S-400 system underscores India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and maintaining regional stability.  As tensions persist, India’s advanced defence capabilities serve as a deterrent against further escalations.
