Indore has once again claimed the title of India’s cleanest city, winning the Swachh Survekshan 2025 for the eighth straight year. The announcement came on July 17 at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, where President Droupadi Murmu also launched the Super Swachh League—Indore topped that too.

Surat, Navi Mumbai, and Vijayawada followed Indore in the million-plus population category. The survey, conducted by MoHUA under the Swachh Bharat Mission, covered 4,500 cities. Over 3,000 assessors surveyed 11 lakh households in 45 days. Officials said the awards now include 10 sanitation parameters and 54 performance indicators. The Super League recognises cities that consistently perform in the top ranks across multiple years.
Other top cities include Noida, New Delhi Municipal Council, Vita, and Panchgani in their respective population brackets. The awards aim to set higher urban sanitation standards. With 14 crore citizens engaged through surveys and apps, this is now the world’s largest urban cleanliness assessment. Indore’s eight-time win shows that long-term planning and public involvement make a real impact.
