IPL Match Moved from Dharamshala to Mumbai After India’s Operation Sindoor Strikes

The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), initially scheduled at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, has been moved to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This decision comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a major military retaliation by India targeting nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

“The match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings shifted to Mumbai from Dharmshala, as the Airport of Dharmshala has been closed, and the match was scheduled on May 11,” a BCCI source told ANI.

With Dharamshala’s close proximity to the border, airlines have suspended flights across 11 cities until May 10, including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. The PBKS vs DC game is also under review as BCCI awaits government clearance.

Operation Sindoor was executed by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force in a coordinated tri-services strike, marking India’s deepest offensive into Pakistani territory since 1971. The forces used precision munitions to destroy nine key terror locations tied to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed leadership, dealing a strategic blow to cross-border terrorism.
