Apart from a successful cinema career, actress Kangana Ranaut is now making her mark in politics as well. She is a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and she recently shared a picture of a woman in uniform. She used fire emoticons while sharing a picture of a female commando standing behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament. The photo went viral on social media as soon as it was posted.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the woman officer seen in the picture is a female commando, who has been a part of the SPG’s security setup for years. Perhaps this is the reason why this photo has won Kangana’s heart as a female SPG officer is not a common thing. Till 2015, the SPG’s Close Protection Team (CPT) did not include women and now there are about 100 women commandos in the concerned department, according to India Today.
Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi established the SPG under the Cabinet Secretariat in April 1985. The decision came after his mother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was killed by her own bodyguard. Subsequently in 1988, the SPG Act came into existence for the protection of Prime Ministers, in which an armed forces officer provides security by staying in close proximity.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the political drama ‘Emergency’ in which she will play the role of Indira Gandhi. The film stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman and more, the film is scheduled to release in 2025.
