The Karnataka Congress found itself in hot water after sharing an incorrect map of Jammu and Kashmir on social media. The image, which failed to show parts of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh correctly, sparked swift criticism from political rivals and netizens alike.
The party posted the map while promoting the Congress manifesto, which was launched in Karnataka. Soon after the backlash, Congress issued a clarification calling it a “minor error” and said it was not intentional.
However, the BJP and several users on X (formerly Twitter) did not take it lightly, accusing Congress of disrespecting India’s sovereignty and being careless with sensitive national issues. The incorrect map was later taken down.
While the party tried to brush it off as a technical mistake, the incident raised concerns about the seriousness with which political parties handle matters of national integrity especially at a time when border sensitivity is a major issue.
This isn’t the first time such an error has caused uproar, but each instance only strengthens the call for political groups to be extra cautious while dealing with anything related to India’s territorial identity.
