Akshay Kumar’s “Kesari Chapter 2” teaser was released on Monday by Dharma Productions. The 90-second clip opens with the haunting screams of men and women fleeing for their lives during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, followed by visuals of the Golden Temple in 1919. A voiceover narrates the horrific events of the massacre, highlighting the British brutality.
Akshay portrays a determined lawyer in a courtroom presided over by a British judge. In a striking moment, the judge reminds him, “Don’t forget you’re still a slave of the British Empire,” to which he firmly responds, “F*** you.”
The film, set to release on April 18, also stars Ananya Panday and R Madhavan. Akshay shared the teaser on Instagram with the caption: “He held his head high. He beat them at their game. He told them where to go. A genocide India must know about. A revolution painted in courage.”
The first “Kesari” film, released in 2019, focused on the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army bravely fought against 10,000 Pashtun tribesmen in 1897.
Kesari Chapter 2 revolves around the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. The tragic event occurred on April 13, when British Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on thousands of unarmed civilians gathered in Amritsar, killing hundreds. The massacre became a turning point in India’s struggle for independence.
