One of the most controversial yet the most awaited movies ever in Indian Cinema, Laal Singh Chaddha has finally been released worldwide in theatres. Aamir Khan essays the lead role of a Sikh character, Laal Singh Chaddha while Kareena Kapoor plays the female lead as Rupa.

The controversial history of the movie might have you confused if you should actually watch it in the theatres or not? We bring you the Laal Singh Chaddha Movie Review to help you find an answer to your questions.

Story & Screenplay

Written by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha is the Hindi adaptation of 1994 American film Forrest Gump, which is itself based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name. We see the world and historical Indian events through the eyes of Laal Singh, a dim-witted man.

Though the idea of the story is adapted from the west, the team has done an amazing job at presenting it in an ‘Indian-way’. Without dropping any major spoilers, Laal Singh Chaddha Movie Review gives you an overview of the story of the movie.

Laal Singh Chaddha follows the childhood hardships of Laal due to his physical and mental drawbacks. It also follows his one-sided love story with Rupa (Kareena Kapoor). As the movie gains pace, we see a bigger picture. Laal Singh somehow finds himself amidst some of the events that changed Indian history forever.

So, undoubtedly, the story is a unique one even if it’s a remake.

Acting & Performances

Aamir Khan essays the most important and definitely one of the most difficult roles in the movie. He’s done a good job at it. Though it feels as if the actor goes backseat in some of the scenes, overall he managed to pull out a good performance.

As for Kareena Kapoor, she’s absolutely brilliant, as she always has been in her movies. Naga Chaitanya, a superstar in the South, marks his Hindi movie debut with Laal Singh Chaddha and despite a small role, he successfully makes his debut a memorable one.

All the supporting actors, including Mona Singh, put up an amazing performance altogether. Shah Rukh Khan also has a cameo appearance and the King Khan is as always stunning.

Direction

Laal Singh Chaddha would definitely have been one of the most difficult directorials in Indian Cinema. Advait Chandan has directed the movie and Laal Singh Chaddha Movie Review tries to find out if he did an applaudable job.

The first half of the movie is excellent. There is so much going on around in the movie yet the direction neatly connects everything together and does not let it become a mess. However, the second half is where things seem to get out of hand. The remake of Forrest Gump is around 22 minutes longer and these 22 minutes do not make up for it.

There comes a point where the second half starts feeling like a burden and makes you think that the movie would have been just perfect had it been shorter.

Overall

Laal Singh Chaddha Movie Review concludes by analyzing that Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor led Laal Singh Chaddha is definitely worth watching in the theatres. There are flaws, it isn’t entirely great but a beautiful story, full of emotions, strong performances altogether makes Laal Singh Chaddha a do not miss.
