Hindi Medium actress Saba Qamar and 2 Number singer Bilal Saeed who were making headlines for violating the norms through a video shoot are now free. The arrest warrants which were issued on September 8 in the Wazir Khan mosque shooting case have been cancelled by a district court in Lahore.
Their bail was approved on Thursday. Saba and Bilal’s lawyers had filed applications for the withdrawal of their bailable warrants. Further both the artists have been granted bail against surety bonds worth Rs30,000 each and the court has directed them to appear at the next hearing.
Judicial Magistrate Jowaria Munir Bhatti had heard the case filed last year, which was followed by an FIR against the duo in a Lahore court.
Now, their issued statement assures they had submitted an application to the court for the withdrawal and cancellation of the bailable warrants issued on September 8, which has now been “graciously accepted.”
Both the artists affirmed that they are law-abiding citizens because they had communicated the “genuine reasons” for not appearing before the court.
Further, the statement reads, “We are pleased to announce that the honourable court has accepted our application, and bailable warrants have been withdrawn through the court’s orders issued today, on September 9.”
It went on to address the “widespread misreporting and mischaracterization of the court’s orders by numerous print and television media outlets.” And explained that at no point were there any directions issued to the law enforcement for the arrest of Qamar and Saeed.
On the contrary, the court followed its standard procedure and issued directions on the nature of production orders, to assure the presence of the celebrities on the next date of hearing.
Also, Bilal and Saba had to apologise for the issue and were asked to share explanations that clear further light on the video shoot’s context.
Further, actress Saba has shared the picture of the statement and wrote, ‘Indeed, there is no substitute for diligent, responsible reporting and some good research.’
