Letter Sent To CM Arvind Kejriwal For Revocation Of Orders For Closure Of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib

The sub divisional magistrate (SDM) of Chanakyapuri had ordered for the closure of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with immediate effect for violating Covid guidelines on 16th September. In the order, the SDM had mentioned that the religious places shall be permitted to open, with visitors allowed. While reading the order, Geeta Grover, SDM stated,

“The executive magistrate, sub division Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, has submitted a report that the management of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, BKS Marg, New Delhi, has allowed visitors/prayers inside the Gurdwara which is violation of… the order dated September 15, 2021 of DDMA Delhi.

Now therefore, I, Geeta Grover, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chanakyapuri New Delhi district in exercise of power conferred under Disaster Management Act 2005 read with Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and regulations made there under, hereby directs management of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, BKS Marg, New Delhi to close the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib for visitors with immediate effect.”

But as per reports, this order has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. And recently, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the president of DSGMC sent a letter to CM Arvind Kejriwal for revocation of order for closure of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib (for violation of Covid guidelines). The letter said,

“The order is unjustified and dictatorial. It is a direct attack on the sentiments of Sikh community.”

It also included, “It is a historic Gurdwara and sentiments of Sikh sangat are closely attached with this Gurdwara Sahib. There is a lot of outrage in Sikh community because of this dictatorial order.’

Manjinder Singh Sirsa also shared the copy of his application on his official Instagram account.
