West Bengal MP Mahua Moitra, a prominent leader from the Trinamool Congress, has reportedly tied the knot with former Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Misra. As per multiple media reports, the wedding took place in a private ceremony in Germany on May 3. Although photos from the event—accessed by India Today—show both Moitra and Misra smiling and posing together, with Moitra seen wearing traditional gold jewellery, neither of the two has publicly confirmed the marriage. Their respective political parties, the TMC and BJD, have also refrained from commenting on the news, maintaining a noticeable silence around the development.
Mahua Moitra is one of the most well-known and vocal figures in the Opposition, often making headlines for her fiery speeches in Parliament. She has been elected twice from the Krishnanagar constituency in West Bengal and had a successful career as an investment banker before transitioning into politics. She was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson.
As for Pinaki Misra, he’s a senior Supreme Court advocate and a seasoned politician. Interestingly, he had previously represented Moitra in legal proceedings at the top court. Born in 1959, the 64-year-old completed his law degree from Delhi University before venturing into public life. He currently represents Odisha’s Puri constituency as a BJD MP and serves on several important parliamentary panels, including the Standing Committee on Finance and the Business Advisory Committee.
