Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has come out in strong support of Diljit Dosanjh amid the Sardaar Ji 3 controversy. In recent interviews, Sirsa called Diljit a “sacha desh bhagat” and urged him to clarify that the film’s shoot with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir happened before the Pahalgam terror attack. He added that the issue is not with Pakistani people but with the system there.
The film has triggered sharp backlash from several celebrities. Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya questioned Diljit’s patriotism. Actress Rupali Ganguly demanded his removal from the upcoming film Border 2. Mika Singh called the decision irresponsible, while Aditya Narayan said there is a limit to tolerance. Singer B Praak also made a cryptic post saying many artists have sold their conscience. Amid this, BJP leaders like RP Singh, Hobby Dhaliwal, and Manjit Singh GK defended Diljit, calling him a national asset and opposing any move to revoke his citizenship.
Although Sardaar Ji 3 has not released in India, the film has been a major success overseas. According to its makers, it has already crossed ₹47 crore at the international box office, with strong collections reported from Canada, the UK, Pakistan, and North America. With Border 2 on the horizon and voices both for and against him, public opinion on Diljit remains sharply divided.
