Mehbooba Mufti Slams Ex-President Ramnath Kovind, Accuses Him Of Fulfilling BJP’s Agenda

Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has lashed out at Ex-President Ramnath Kovind, claiming that he had “trampled upon umpteen times”, accusing him of working on the BJP’s agenda. Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks came soon after Draupadi Murmu took oath as the new President.

Mehbooba Mufti, on her official Twitter handle, quoted:

“The outgoing President leaves behind a legacy where the Indian Constitution was trampled upon umpteenth times. Be it scrapping of Article 370,CAA or the unabashed targeting of minorities & Dalits, he fulfilled BJPs political agenda  all at the cost of the Indian Constitution.”

On Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks on Ex-President Ramnath Kovind, Union law minister Kiren Rijiju said, “We should not give importance to anyone’s statement given in a wrong way.” As quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle:

“Delhi | We should not give importance to anyone’s statement given in a wrong way: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s tweet on the outgoing President in which she alleged that he had “fulfilled BJPs political agenda at the cost of Indian Constitution”

The former state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories in August 2019 when the Central government scrapped section 370 and the then President Kovind approved the resolution proposed by the Government of India. PDP, NC and even many other opposition parties opposed the Centre’s move of scrapping section 370.
