Mika Singh Slams Filmfare Over Sonu Nigam Snub, Questions Ayushmann Khurrana’s Win

Mika Singh has publicly expressed his disappointment with the Filmfare Awards, calling out the organizers for what he sees as blatant disregard for legendary singer Sonu Nigam. In a strongly worded post on Instagram, the popular playback singer suggested that Filmfare no longer deserves respect, especially after excluding a talent like Sonu from their honors.

The controversy stems from the award for Best Playback Singer (Male), which went to Ayushmann Khurrana for his song “Idiot” from the film An Action Hero. While Ayushmann is recognized for his multifaceted talents, Mika believes that overlooking Sonu Nigam—who many regard as one of India’s finest vocalists—is an injustice to true artistry.

Sharing a clip of Sonu’s live performance of Kal Ho Naa Ho, Mika emphasized how deeply Sonu’s voice connects with listeners. “He’s unmatched,” Mika said, urging award shows to reconsider their choices. He also suggested a boycott of Filmfare, writing, “Don’t invite them at all.”

This isn’t the first time Filmfare has come under scrutiny for its decisions. However, when respected industry voices like Mika speak up, it reignites the conversation about credibility and genuine talent recognition in the entertainment world.

Mika’s bold stance has resonated with fans, many of whom believe it’s time for award ceremonies to honor artists based on merit rather than popularity or politics.
