In a recently released new statement, The Multiplex Association of India stated, “The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Cinemas across India, welcome moviegoers to spend a day at the movies with a celebratory admission price of ₹75 to mark National Cinema Day. The National Cinema Day was previously announced to be held on 16th September, however, on request from various ‘stakeholders’ and in order to maximise participation, it would now be held on 23rd September.”

Cinema screens of PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, Citypride, ASIAN, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K and Delite and many others will be actively participating in the celebrations.

Hence the one-day discount is also a thank-you gesture from the cinema chains for the audience. “It celebrates the successful reopening of cinemas and is a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers who made this happen. National Cinema Day is also an invitation to those who haven’t made it back to a cinema near them, yet.”

To enjoy the benefits of the discounts, people need to keep a check on the official information shared by different cinema chains. If you buy the tickets in physical form from the counter, it will only charge you 75 rupees. But, third-party apps like BookMyShow and PayTM might add some additional charges making the ticket price more than 75.
