Did You Know RRR Song Naatu Naatu Was Shot Outside Ukrainian President Zelensky’s Residence?

RRR was one of the most celebrated Indian films of the previous year and it seems like the party hasn’t stopped for SS Rajamouli’s film. There’s rarely any prestigious award nomination’s list that doesn’t feature RRR’s name in it.

Continuing the celebrations, the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the movie has won the ‘Best Original Song’ award at the prestigious 80th Golden Globes Awards 2023. The movie was also nominated for the Best Non-English Film’ category that it eventually lost to an Argentinean film ‘Argentina,1985’.

Well, we are sure that you must have grooved to this Naatu Naatu song but you might have not known the fact that this RRR song was shot in Ukraine. Yes! You heard it right, the same war-torn Ukraine.

Well, the shooting of Naatu Naatu took place only a few months before Russia invaded Ukraine. The song was shot in August 2021, outside the official residence of Ukrainian president Vladymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

In an old interview with Gulte.com, the RRR director, SS Rajamouli confirmed it by saying, “We shot the Naatu Naatu song in Ukraine. It is a real location. Actually, it is the Ukrainian President’s palace. There is a parliament right beside the palace. Luckily, they gave us permission to shoot because the Ukrainian president was a television actor.”

For the unversed, the Telegu song Naatu Naatu was composed by MM Keeravani, and the lyrics were written by Chandrabose. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava sung the song and it was released on November 10, 2021. The Naatu Naatu has also been shortlisted for Oscars 2023.
