Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has come out in strong support of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, who is currently facing backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his film *Sardaar Ji 3*.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Shah made it clear that Diljit isn’t to blame for the casting choice.
“I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT,” Shah wrote.
He continued, “He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.”
Shah also addressed the larger issue of India-Pakistan relations and how people are often unfairly targeted for maintaining personal bonds across borders.
He shared, “What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it. And my response to those who will say ‘Go to Pakistan’ is ‘GO TO KAILASA’.”
Through his words, Naseeruddin Shah not only defended Diljit Dosanjh but also reminded people of the importance of staying human and not letting hate decide how we connect with others.
