But the actor has recently revealed that he finds no value in receiving awards and trophies. He even said that he uses his Filmfare trophies as handles for the washroom in his farmhouse.

He slammed the award shows by stating that any actor who has put their life and effort into portraying a role is a good actor. And asked that if they just pick one person from the lot and say that ‘this is the best actor of the year’, how’s it fair? He said that he is not proud of those awards and he did not even go to collect the last two awards that he received.

And the story did not end here, as the actor continued to make the bold statement and said, “So, when I built a farmhouse I decided to put these awards there. Whoever goes to the washroom will get two awards each as the handles are made of the Filmfare awards.”
Talking about the awards he said he finds no value in trophies. He said that he used to get happy when he received the initial ones but then, trophies started piling up around him. And sometimes he understood that these awards are a result of lobbying. One is receiving these awards not necessarily because of their merit, so he started leaving them behind.
On the other hand, Naseeruddin Shah expressed his respect for the national awards. Talking about the same he said that he respects Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards that he has received from the government of India.
According to Shah, these National awards reminded him of his deceased father who used to always be worried about his job and said things like ‘if you do this useless work, you will become a fool’. He said, “So, when I went to Rashtrapati Bhavan to collect the awards, I looked up and asked my dad if he was seeing all this… He was… and I am sure he was happy… I was happy to receive those awards. But I can’t stand these competitive awards.”
