National Level Shooter Namanveer Singh Brar Dies At The Age Of 29

A 29-year old national-level shooter, Namanveer Singh Brar, was found dead on Monday morning in Mohali. Brar died by suicide at his residence in Sector 71 of the city, according the police statement.

Further, Brar’s family and near ones did not know why he could have taken the step. The post-mortem was conducted at a civil hospital in Phase VI.

But according to the DSP, it could not be conclusively said whether he died of suicide or due to accidental fire as their was a bullet wound on Brar’s body.

Moreover, the investigating officer and sub inspector, said the incident took place around 3:35 am, when Brar was alone in his room. “He returned home late and went to his room, while his wife, who is pregnant, was sleeping with her mother-in-law,” said the IO.

Namanveer Singh Brar was earlier a student of Panjab University. He had bagged the bronze along with Ankur Mittal and Asgar Hussein Khan in the double trap team event at the World University games at Gwangju, South Korea, in 2015. He was also coaching the young shooters. 

Earlier in March, he competed in the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) category in the ISSF World Cup in Delhi.
